City approves emergency roadwork repair
LAKE OZARK – Motorists using Osage Hills Road will need to be patient with the damage in the road as emergency repairs have been approved.
Shortly before 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, an independent contractor performing right-of-way excavation near Osage Hills Road damaged a water main using excavation equipment.
Last week the Board of Aldermen approved the second reading for Capitol Paving to fix the road. Three sections of the road base will be removed and replaced along with resurfacing.
The contract with Capitol Paving calls for the three sections of the failed areas to be removed and replaced with six-inch commercial base rock and five inches of paving for a total of $37,835.65
The city already had an agreement with Capitol Paving for road milling and resurfacing work on a portion of Bagnell Dam Boulevard so this was a supplement to that work.
It is anticipated that work will begin on the road replacement project in early May. City crews continue to monitor the state of the road and there are currently no concerns for driver safety or structural integrity of the open driving areasStolen truck used to steal money from ATM
VERSAILLES – As of press time, police are still investigating a theft from an ATM machine in the West Vue Shopping center. According to the Versailles Police Department, last Wednesday morning (April 10) at approximately 3:46 a.m., the ATM located in the parking lot of West Vue Shopping Center was burglarized.
Police say the suspects utilized a stolen Dodge pickup from a local business on South Highway 5 to commit the crime.
They attached chains to pull the security door off the ATM and fled the scene with an unknown amount of money. The stolen Dodge pickup was recovered a short distance away from the ATM.
The suspects were last seen on security cameras heading South on Highway 5 in a black, unknown model Kia with no visible license plates. At this time police believe there are at least three-four suspects.
“We will continue to work the investigation and collaborate with other agencies and advise of any further developments,” a Versailles Police Department spokesman said.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS – An Eldon man is dead following a rollover accident last Saturday in Morgan County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) at 4:15 p.m. on private property near 23545 Seals Road, Jimmy Burrus, 51, of Eldon, MO, was driving a 2020 Honda Talon 1000X4 attempting to climb a hill.
The vehicle began overturning and overturned multiple times hitting several trees until coming to rest on the driver’s side. Burrus was partially ejected.
He was pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO, at 5:03 p.m. by Dr. Oliver. Burrus was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
This is Troop F’s second fatality of the month and number 11 for the year.

Osage Beach issues warrants, summonses
OSAGE BEACH - The City has issued their latest warrants and summonses to persons who failed to appear for Court on March 8, 2024.
Warrants and summonses are consequences of the defendant’s failure to appear and are not an indication of guilt.

Design guidelines now avaliable for public review
OSAGE BEACH – The city has proposed changes to the city code for Design Guidelines and Design Standards regarding the Water and Sewerage System, Storm Drainage and Road Cut, Utility Trench and Excavation Permits.
These proposed changes are now available to the public for review and comment.
A special Board of Aldermen meeting for the purpose of a Public Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2024, 5:30 p.m., at City Hall.
The meeting agenda will be available on their website closer to the meeting date.

Public comments will be accepted through Tuesday, April 30, 2024, ahead of the Public Hearing.
