Halloween on the strip Oct 28

LAKE OZARK - The Bagnell Dam Strip Association (BDSA) is trying out a new recipe for a day of family fun at its annual Halloween on the Strip, October 28.

According to a spokesman the new recipe is “combining traditional activities with a dash of youthful zest.”

From 2- 4 p.m. the traditions of Trick or Treat at participating Bagnell Dam Strip businesses, Games of Skill for prizes and the Cookie Walk at Luby’s Plaza.

At 4 p.m. the Costume Contest will be held with several age categories and one best group costume. All will compete for prizes on Luby’s Stage.

Immediately following is a Pie Eating Contest for kids and for adults.

Additions to the schedule extend the day on both sides of the main event, starting with an 8 a.m. 3K Haunted Fun Run.

Runners will start at Lake Ozark Coney Island/Sugar Shack Ice Cream and will run past the Heritage Elementary School. A nominal fee will be charged which the students will donate to Citizens Against Domestic Violence.

Back at Coney Island, a $5 pancake breakfast from 9:00 – 11:00 will raise funds for BDSA special events.

Another new activity is Teen Night.

From 5-8 p.m., the evening will feature a scary movie, a bonfire and dance party with DJ Bob Dodd. These new events are the result of the middle school students of Misti Maples, School of the Osage “Tribe Time” group called, “The Bagnell Dam Action Team.”

This group of 12 and 13 year olds are working with a liaison of the special events committee of BDSA to weave their new ideas into the existing framework of the established Halloween on the Strip event.

The students will also judge the Pumpkin Decorating Contest which is open to the public to bring their already decorated pumpkins to Luby’s Stage for judging after 2 p.m.

That night will also come to life on the Bagnell Dam Strip with a little spice. Several establishments will be celebrating the holiday with their own special events.

For example, Tucker’s Shuckers will offer a $1,500 prize for their Saturday night adult costume contest.
