Man ejected from vehicle in accident
LAKE OF THE OZARKS – An Iberia man escaped serious injury after being ejected
from a vehicle last week.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) last Tuesday (October 30)
Chance Olivier, 17, of Iberia, MO, was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger eastbound on
Highway 42 just west of Hawkins Cemetery Road in Miller County at 7:20 p.m. when
he lost control of the vehicle on wet pavement.
The truck traveled off the right side of the road striking several fences and
then overturned, ejecting Olivier.
He was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The
truck was listed as totaled. According to the MSHP he was not wearing his safety
device.
A four-vehicle accident earlier that same day (1:07 p.m.) in Morgan County sent
two people to the hospital.
The MSHP stated that three vehicles – a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by
Christopher Leclair, 51, of Stover, MO – a 2005 Ford Taurus, driven by Walker
Schotte, 18, of Barnett, MO and a 1997 Ford F250, driven by Dwight Beeson, 79,
of Cole Camp, MO, were all stopped in the roadway due to construction when a
2007 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Halle Randall, 19, of Versailles, MO struck the
rear of the Pathfinder.
The Pathfinder then hit the rear of the Ford Taurus which sent it into the rear
of the F250.
Randall was transported by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia
with serious injuries.
Leclair received minor injuries and was transported by private conveyance to
Bothwell Hospital. All the drivers were wearing their safety devices.
Two people were sent to the hospital in a single-vehicle accident last Thursday
in Miller County.
According to the MSHP, a 2007 Buick Lucerne, driven by William L. Hazel, 45, of
Lebanon, MO, was eastbound on Highway 54 at Route V when the vehicle failed to
negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the road striking several
large rocks.
William L. Hazel and a passenger, William R. Hazel, 76, also of Lebanon, MO,
were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
William L. Hazel sustained minor injuries while William R. Hazel received
serious injuries. Both were wearing their safety devices.
