Fire damages home
CAMDEN COUNTY - An early morning fire on New Year’s Day has left a house with major smoke and water damage.
On January 1 at 7:30 a.m., the Mid-County Fire Protection District (MCFPD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Lakeview Drive in Camdenton. The first arriving units found a working fire with heavy smoke showing. Crews made an interior attack and were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes.
All occupants and pets were able to get out of the house prior to fire department arrival and were uninjured, including a pet turtle that was rescued by fire department personnel. The fire damage was confined to the rear of the structure with the entire structure receiving major smoke and water damage.
An investigation of the fire was completed by the Fire Marshal and was ruled to be accidental. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with immediate needs.
The MCFPD responded with two engines and were assisted on the scene by an engine from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District. The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District moved an engine to MCFPD Station 1 to cover calls.
They were also assisted on the scene by the Camden County Ambulance District and the Camdenton Police Department. All units cleared the scene at 10:20 a.m.
