Iberia woman charged with murder of husband


MILLER COUNTY – A woman has been charged with First Degree Murder in the death of her husband last December

On December 11, 2018 a 911 call was received at the Miller County Joint Communications Center reporting a house fire at 9 Janice Drive in Iberia, MO.

Authorities discovered the body of Joshua Murray inside the residence.

The Missouri State Fire Marshall investigators, along with detectives with the Sheriff’s office, determined the fire to be arson that originated inside the master bedroom of the residence. Authorities determined that accelerant was used to start the fire.

An autopsy was conducted by the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The Boone County Medical Examiner concluded that Joshua Murray was deceased prior to the fire occurring and further indicated that the cause of death as poisoning.

Detectives identified the suspect as Amy Murray, 41, Joshua Murray’s wife.

Murray was taken into custody at the Miller County Adult Detention Center on a $750,000 bond.

Miller County Prosecutor Ben Winfrey charged Murray with the following:

• Murder 1st Degree
• Armed Criminal Action
• Arson - 2nd Degree
• Tampering With Physical Evidence In Felony Prosecution

Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire stated this was a joint investigation conducted by the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office, Sarpy County Nebraska Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Digital Forensic Unit and the Violent Crimes Support Unit
