Quick action keeps fire from spreading

OSAGE BEACH – Firefighters quickly extinguished a small structure fire last week leaving only one wall damaged from the flames.

Last Wednesday (February 1) at 2:21 p.m., fire units from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District (OBFPD) were dispatched for a residential structure fire in the 6300 block of Running Deer Drive.

Crews arrived within seven minutes of being dispatched and advised light smoke showing from the front of the structure.

Firefighters found fire inside the wall on the front porch and utilized saws to make access to the fire. The fire was knocked down within five minutes of arrival containing the fire to its area of origin.

No injuries were reported to firefighters or residents.

After overhaul was completed, the fire was found to have been contained to the small portion of the wall.

After spotting the fire, homeowners quickly called 911

“Great stop by our B shift and prevent further damage to the home,” an OBFPD spokesman said.

The cause is still under investigation by the Osage Beach Fire District Fire Marshall’s office.

Osage Beach Fire responded to the scene with two engines and two engine tankers. The Lake Ozark Fire Protection District moved into Station 1 to cover the district while OBFPD extinguished the fire.
