Two vacant house fires extinguished in one day

MORGAN COUNTY – Last Monday afternoon (March 20) the Gravois Fire Protection District (GFPD) along with the Sunrise Beach, Mid-County and Lake Ozark Fire Districts responded to a First Alarm residential structure fire in the 33000 block of Green Hills Road.

The house was currently vacant and no injuries were reported. The blaze is under investigation by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.

But the day was not over.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., the GFPD and The Versailles Rural Fire Protection District, The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, The Moreau Fire Protection District and Mid Mo Ems crews responded to another First Alarm structure fire in the 13000 block of Mayfield Drive.

The fire destroyed a vacant home, a car and caused heavy damage to a log cabin along with sparking a one acre brush fire.

Lake Area firefighters brought the fire under control after 40 minutes.

Preliminary investigation indicates that this fire started due to an adjacent trash fire.

There were also no injuries connected to this fire.
