AquaPalooza to flow into lake area July 18

By Jeff Thompson
OSAGE BEACH - AquaPalooza 2015 - billed as the largest family boating event at Lake of the Ozarks - will be held Saturday, July 18 at Dog Days Bar & Grill from 12 to 5 p.m.

The annual event is sponsored by the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers and routinely draws hundreds of boats and thousands of people.

“The Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers invites all boaters (both residents and visitors) to join them for a great day on the water,” an event spokesman said. “Live music and activities will keep you having fun all day long.”

Although AquaPalooza officially starts at 12 noon, there’s nothing to stop early arrivals.

“The music begins around noon, but on Saturday morning, spectators in boats and floats begin lining the cove outside of Dog Days, creating a colorful and festive flotilla in front of the waterside stage to get the best vantage point of the live musical entertainment,” the event spokesman said.

Live music acts include:
* Members Only, the nation's premier 80’s tribute band, playing the favorite classics from the decade that gave the world the Rubik's Cube, Atari, and feathered bangs;
* State Line Drive, made up of twin brothers Mason and Micah Marrs and Jordan and Joel Mills from Kansas City and Jacob Filer from Harrisonville;
* Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs, with a “tongue-in-cheek” approach that declares its allegiance to the boogie lifestyle; and
* Double Vision, the midwest’s premier tribute to the music of Foreigner.

“There is nothing else like this at the Lake,” said Tim Jacobsen, executive director of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor Bureau. “It’s a really cool event at a great venue and it’s totally free to come watch the different bands. It's awesome to see how many people come out to enjoy AquaPalooza.”

In addition, one lucky attendee will receive a 2015 Yamaha VX Waverunner; the winner will be announced from the AquaPalooza stage.

By water, Dog Days is located at the 19 Mile Marker by the Grand Glaize Bridge. By land, take Highway 54 Expressway to Jeffries Road, the first exit west of the Grand Glaize Bridge (or the last exit east of the bridge).
