Gunshot report leads to arrest for domestic assault
CAMDENTON – A man has been arrested after a call of a gunshot sent police to a duplex.
Last Thursday (September 5) at approximately 8:28 p.m., Camdenton Police Officers responded to a call of an alleged domestic assault on Wilkerson Street.
Multiple neighbors had stated that they heard a gunshot.
According to the Camdenton Police Department (CPD) upon arriving on the scene, officers met with a female victim and her son who told officers that her husband, who was still inside the residence, had shot at her while on the back deck.
The son fled the house and called 911.
When the suspect, later identified as Jeffrey L. Kinney, 60, entered the house, she fled the upper level deck by scaling down the side.
Officers found that Kinney had barricaded himself inside the house and reportedly had access to several weapons.
At this point officers began evacuating occupants of the adjoining duplex for their safety.
Police were successful in making contact with Kinney by phone and sometime later he exited the residence and was taken into custody.
He was found medically fit for confinement and transported to the Camden County Detention Center where he was subsequently charged with Domestic Assault 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful use of a Weapon.
The female, while visibly shaken, did not have significant injuries, the CPD stated.
