By Jeff Thompson
LAKE OF THE OZARKS - The 8th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest will be riding into town Sept. 11 through Sept. 14 with events and attractions throughout the lake area.

“This area offers some of the nation’s most scenic rides around the Lake of the Ozarks and through the rolling Ozark hills with spectacular views,” event organizers stated, “in addition to over 100 biker-friendly bars, restaurants, hotels and campgrounds.”

Special events include bike giveaways, live music, fireworks and vendor villages.

There will be two bike giveaways during Bikefest, one for a 2013 Harley Davidson FLD Switchback and the other a new Harley-Davidson Softtail Blackline.

The Harley Switchback will be given away at the end of a “passport ride” where riders visit 24 establishments in Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, Camdenton, Eldon and Sunrise Beach to get their “passport” stamped.

According to event organizers, one stamp is received at each location and all locations must be stamped for the passport to be considered complete and approved for the drawing.

Passports must be turned in no later than Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. and the drawing will be held that afternoon.

Registration for the Blackline drawing will be held at three different locations: Sept. 11 and 12 at Pickleheads Roadhouse Event Center in Sunrise Beach; Sept. 13 at Beavers at the Dam during the National Beef Jerky Contest; and Sept. 13 at Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson.

The Harley Blackline will be given away at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Live music will also play an important part of the 2014 Bikefest. There will be over 50 live music and entertainment shows throughout Bikefest.

Headliners at Camden at the Lake in Lake Ozark will include Mustang Sally followed by Edge of Forever: A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd on Friday, Sept. 12, and Hells Bells: A Tribute to AC/DC on Saturday, Sept. 13.

In addition, vendor villages will be held at six locations through the lake area:
Lake of the Ozarks Harley Davidson Shop, Osage Beach;
Bagnell Dam Bait Shop & Campground, Lake Ozark;
Toad Cove Compound, Lake Ozark;
Dog Days Bar & Grill, Osage Beach;
Surdyke Yamaha, Osage Beach; and
Yacht Club Powersports, Osage Beach.

Other events include:
* Iguana Fireworks will put on a display in Iguana Cove near Bagnell Dam at the 1 Mile Marker on Sept. 11 starting at 9:15 p.m.; and

* A Sunday morning outside tent service will be held at the Osage Beach First Assembly of God Church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a free lunch hosted by Fishers of Men.
