Two men injured after being hit by vehicle

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – Two men have been seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle last week.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) last Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. on Ohana Drive near the Community Pool in Camden County, a 48-year-old female from Little Rock, AR, was the driver of a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban when she accidentally put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse.

The vehicle moved forward and hit a 45-year-old male from Camdenton, MO and a 49-year-old male from Ulman, MO.

The 45-year-old male suffered serious injuries and was flown by MU Air Care to University Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The 49-year-old male also received serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. The suburban had minor damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Earlier in the week (Monday May 19) a one-vehicle accident left the driver with minor injuries.

At 5:18 p.m. on Route D south of Buffalo Road in Morgan County, a 55-year-old female was driving a 2024 Toyota Corolla south “too fast for road conditions” which sent the vehicle off the right side of the road where it hit multiple trees.

She had minor injuries and was taken by EMS to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia. She was wearing a seat belt. The Toyota was totaled in the crash.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

Two juveniles were injured in an ATV accident last Saturday in Camden County.

A 2002 Suzuki ATV was being driven by a 12-year-old male from Climax Springs, MO, south on Dodds Camp Road in Climax Springs when the ATV went off the left side of the road, crossed a private drive, traveled into a creek bed and hit a tree.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. He was wearing a safety device.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 17-year-old male from Higginsville, MO, received minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Lake Regional Hospital. He was not wearing a safety device.

The ATV had moderate damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

The week ended with another juvenile injured this time on a motorcycle.

At 7:25 p.m. on Kennedy Road in Camden County, a 13-year-old male from Macks Creek, MO, was driving a 2024 Honda CRF110F south when the motorcycle went off the left side of a private driveway and overturned ejecting the driver into a fence.

He received minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Lake Regional Hospital. He was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle had no damage.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

The accidents from the holiday period were not available at press time.
