Versailles man dies in single-vehicle accident
LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A Versailles man is dead following a one-vehicle accident last Friday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) at 2:00 p.m. on Route W just north of Old Marvin Road in Morgan County, a 66-year-old male from Versailles, MO was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban south when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the left side of the road, hit two highway signs and impacted a creek bed.
The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.
He was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 3:10 p.m. by Dr. Tagart. He was not wearing a seat belt.
This is Troop F’s first fatality for June and number 26 for the year.
The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.
A Montreal woman received minor injuries after hitting a car that was blocking the road.
Last Wednesday June 3 at 9:45 a.m., a 70-year-old female from Montreal, MO, was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry north on Route BB north of Niki Lane in Camden County.
An unoccupied 2004 Toyota Camry was on Route BB facing east with the front wheels off the roadway and the back of the car on the roadway blocking the northbound lane.
The 2014 Camry hit the back of the 2004 Camry.
The 70-year-old female driver received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.
The 2014 Camry was totaled and the 2004 Camry had extensive damage.
The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.
Later that same day (3:16 p.m.) a single-vehicle accident sent two to the hospital.
A 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by a 42-year-old male from Eldon, MO, was eastbound on Highway 54 near Atchison Road in Miller County, when the truck lost a front tire, went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
The driver and a 49-year-old female passenger both suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The vehicle was totaled in the crash.
The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.
The next morning (June 4 at 12:20 a.m.) an encounter between a motorcycle and a deer sent the driver the hospital.
A 47-year-old male from Roach, MO, was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster north on Irontown Drive north of Tick Lane when the driver swerved to avoid a deer.
The motorcycle went off the left side of the road and overturned.
The driver had serious injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Lake Regional Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle had extensive damage.
The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver
Last Friday morning at 9:20 a.m., a 63-year-old female from Stover, MO, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe north on Webb Loop at Cedar Ridge Drive in Morgan County when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
The driver became unconscious and the vehicle rolled backwards down a hill.
The driver received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle was totaled in the crash.
The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.
