Jefferson City man dies in golf cart accident

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A Jefferson City man is dead following an accident with a golf cart.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) at 12:45 a.m. last Saturday morning, a 62-year-old man from Jefferson City, MO, was driving a golf cart east on private property 65 feet north of Dunwandrin Road in Morgan County when the vehicle hit a rock and ejected the driver.

The golf cart came to rest on top of the driver.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lake Regional Doctor Roger Campbell. The driver was not wearing a safety device.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the victim.

This is Troop F’s third fatality for May and number 16 for the year.

A Camdenton woman was injured last week when another vehicle crossed the centerline and hit hers.

On Sunday May 25 at 12:50 p.m., a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by a 22-year-old male from Camdenton, MO, was traveling south on Wading Bird Road north of Bluffview Drive in Camden County, when the vehicle crossed the center of the road and hit a northbound 2022 Honda CRV, driven by a 23-year-old male from Olathe, KS.

The driver of the Cobalt had moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt but the driver of the Honda was.

Both cars were totaled in the crash.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.

Another accident occurred last Thursday involving a vehicle and a stray tire.

At 4:42 p.m. on Business Route 5 near Wymill Road in Camden County, a 2013 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 56-year-old female from Lebanon, MO, was southbound when a tire from a northbound trailer being towed by a 2022 Dodge Ram 3200, driven by a 36-year-old male from Copan, OK, dislodged from the towed unit and went across the road and was hit by the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan had minor injuries and was taken by EMS to a Lebanon Hospital. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and the Nissan had moderate damage.

The MSHP refused to release the names of those involved.
