Eldon man dies in rollover

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – An Eldon man is dead following a rollover accident last Saturday in Morgan County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) at 4:15 p.m. on private property near 23545 Seals Road, Jimmy Burrus, 51, of Eldon, MO, was driving a 2020 Honda Talon 1000X4 attempting to climb a hill.

The vehicle began overturning and overturned multiple times hitting several trees until coming to rest on the driver’s side. Burrus was partially ejected.

He was pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO, at 5:03 p.m. by Dr. Oliver. Burrus was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

This is Troop F’s second fatality of the month and number 11 for the year.

In other accident last week in the lake area:

On Sunday April 7 a man was injured when a vehicle rolled over.

At 6:15 p.m. on Highway Z in Camden County, Austin Hammond, 22, of Pleasant Valley, MO, was driving a Yardsport YS400 UTV south on private property when the vehicle overturned, ejecting the driver.

Hammond received moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital. He was not wearing a safety device. The vehicle had minor damage.

A single vehicle accident left a woman with minor injuries last Wednesday.

According to the MSHP, Cassandra Tidwell, 38, of Iberia, MO, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer west on Highway 42 west of Blueridge Road in Miller County at 11:00 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit a driveway and overturned.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance. She was wearing a seat belt. The Trailblazer was totaled in the crash.
