Woman killed in crash

MILLER COUNTY – A Marshall, MO woman has been killed in an accident last weekend on Highway 54 at Route W.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) a 2004 Chevy Impala, driven by Donald Talbott, 50, also of Marshall, MO, was westbound on Highway 54 around 7:45 p.m. when he turned into the path of a 2005 Cadillac Escalade, driven by Bobby Albertson, 71, of Eldon, MO.

A passenger in the Impala, Grace Helgenberger, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a safety device, the MSHP stated.

Talbott suffered serious injuries and was flown to University hospital by Staff for Life. According to the MSHP, he was not wearing a safety device.

Talbott was charged with:
1.) Felony Driving while Intoxicated Involving the Death of Another
2.) Failure to Yield
3.) No Seat Belt.

He was released to University Hospital.

Bobby Albertson and a female passenger, Donna Albertson, 68, also of Eldon, MO, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Lake Regional Hospital by Ambulance. Both were wearing safety devices.

In another weekend accident, an apparent stunt gone wrong has left a Gravois Mills, MO, female in serious condition after an accident last Sunday.

According to the MSHP, around 3:43 a.m. a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Jared Wright, 20, of Stover, MO, was southbound on Route T approximately 100 feet south of Campbell Drive when the female passenger, Sequoia Tores, 19, of Gravois Mills, MO, climbed on the roof of the vehicle while it was still moving.

She then fell off the roof onto the roadway and the Tahoe traveled off of the right side of the road and struck a ditch.

Tores suffered serious injuries and was flown by Staff for Life to University Hospital. Wright suffered minor injuries and would seek medical treatment on his own, the MSHP said.

Neither was wearing a safety device the MSHP stated in their report.
