Accident claims the life of St. Charles man

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – A St. Charles man is dead after crashing his truck last Sunday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) on Sunday August 23 at 3:19 p.m., a 64-year-old man from St. Charles, MO, was driving a 2018 Ford F250 east on Highway 54 just west of Route A in Camden County, when the truck went off the right side of the road, hit two guardrails and then traveled down a steep embankment.

The vehicle then hit two highway signs and multiple trees.

The driver was pronounced dead at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO, at 4:11 p.m. by Dr. Keith Butvilas. He was wearing a seat belt.

This is Troop F’s fifth fatality for August and number 42 for 2026.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

The week started off on Monday August 17 with a single-vehicle accident in Morgan County.

At 4:50 p.m., a 2013 Ford Escape was being driven by a 72-year-old female from Eldon, MO, west on Highway 52 east of Church Road when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a ditch.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt. The Ford had minor damage.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

Another single-vehicle accident took place last Friday, August 21 in Miller County, when a 2024 Chevrolet Trax, driven south on Highway 17 north of Benner Road at 2:28 p.m. by a 76-year-old female from Crocker, MO, went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

She received serious injuries and was taken by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.

The Chevrolet had extensive damage.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.

Another one-vehicle accident took place the next day and sent one to the hospital.

At 8:30 a.m. on Beacon Road west of Route Y in Morgan County, a 26-year-old male from Olean, MO, was driving a 2019 GMC Terrain westbound when it ran off the right side of the road, returned to the roadway, crossed the center of the road and went off the left side of the road and overturned.

The driver ended up with minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt. The GMC was totaled in the crash.

The MSHP refused to release the name of the driver.
